last red roses

These were falling apart as I tried to catch them. I'm trying to learn from my sister and other bloggers out there... well behind the 8 ball, but trying!! To get the colours to glow in watercolour is the mission ... the light in the computer screen helps a bit . Fallen petal is a bit like a map of Australia, and should have some shadows added.
Next job blue iris, then sweet sisters... whew!

...yes, come on now, no slacking, there's blogging to be done! I love the shapes of your roses together, and the fallen petal and there is a lovely glow (I agree -the computer image helps mine too)
I must find a ref pic and draw sweet Perth sister too... GPH has made me a bit nervous now - strict instructions never ever to post a portrait that isn't young and beautiful!

Ah now there's a challenge!!
Like old passport photos, it probably depends on how much later you look at said portrait.

HEY! Hang on now! Ek het dit nooit gesĂȘ nie!! More like... if it looks like Rochester's mad wife - please don't post it... There's a LOT of room between youth & beauty and R's mad wife... No red roses to be seen around here... but my plumbago is looking good. In Portland, OR. we had a bush that produced beautiful scarlet roses with an orange stripe on one side, like someone had painted it on as an afterthought. SO pretty! I suppose that would look silly in a w/c...? I like your rose + fallen petal, Viv.

Filia vdH. did a gorgeous oil of fallen flame tree petals on the ground. It was for sale in the little gift shop at KB - and I umm'ed and ah'd about it. And then with the wedding activities - didn't get round to it... And now am SO SORRY I didn't make myself go and buy it. I loved that painting!
