Painting by Numbers

We have our youngest daughter home from College in the States. For 10 weeks!! She's relaxing and enjoying home before starting the business of job hunting. She and her room mate decided to do one each of those complicated painting by numbers pictures, as a joke; but it's a relaxing mind-in-neutral activity ... both are serious rowers as well as serious students. She had got some way with this, when she announced she had the wrong colour for one of the numbers!! Her relaxed absorption gave me an opportunity to do this pencil drawing of her this morning, and she says it looks quite a bit like her, so that's not so bad, is it?
. I have done something funny to the mouth. Interesting how seeing it on the screen shows up things not noticed before. I think it has a little "Linder" about it?
Anyway.. here goes... "publish post"

This is a beautiful drawing of Nell, Vivienne...very tender and recognisable - even with the cute new haircut! See lots of paternal side there, and yes, a bit of Linder...and Burl...
Paint by numbers was very hot here for a while - even for interior decor as wallpaper, it must be good for relaxing those hard-working brains, and fabulous for arty mums to catch a pose. Bummer when you get a colour wrong though :oD

So lovely and very recognizable as your youngest! Well done - what a pleasant time for you to have her HOME and so occupied that you could draw her. Love the new haircut – very pretty! I see glimpses of young YML and VPB. I notice her little elephant necklace too. Sweet!

Thanks for your comments. It is lovely to have such a sweet person
back in the home. I actually think my drawing is more like our Mum than like EBRP! I have not quite got the long P cheek-line right. But I like seeing Mum there anyway! Do you think it because I have been reading a book "Debs at War" about the work women did during WWII, and have been thinking about her a lot? Who knows?
